Artificial Intelligence has come to stay but what does that mean to us people. There are news about AI making labour redundancy on the rise and many predictions point to the fact that in the near future many jobs would be rendered obsolete. Is the threat real?

Well, AI is trained to do some complex tasks now within no time and its ability to replicate same repeatedly. It is estimated thousands to millions of jobs to be lost in the near future.

There’s advancement of AI technologies in medicine, coding, agriculture, e-commerce and automotive driverless cars just to mention few. There are machines like drones which do delivery of foods and medical supplies to hard-to-reach area in some countries.

Could your career be taken over machines and artificial intelligence in the next the 5-20 years? What can we do? In my opinion, I think we have to accept the fact that the trend of AI would continue and get better some of which are to make our lives better even though some would come with their own setbacks on our existence as a people. But we have continue to evolve by learning new emerging skills to have competitive advantage that would be essential in complementing the works of AI.

Almost every skills can be taught and learned but it’s up to us to be willing and ready to learn new things that are necessary for us switch and fit in any emerging economies.

I believe many of us can and will try our best when the need arises.
